OK, if your game crashes on startup try running in windowed mode and/or disabling the intro movies. If it crashes after creating your character disable frame buffer effects. Both are covered in this guide. If you are running a high res monitor or a 120/144Hz one the game simply won't handle that. You may have to play around with the resolution setting in the menu or if it won't even start then in the.ini file. The game won't deal with high refresh rates so you may have to run your system as a lower rate - approximately half, so 60/72Hz. There is a widescreen hack but it can be a bit erratic whether it works or not. Everyone, this is what I did and it worked. I am running the game on Win 10 as well.

So give this a shot.Go to C:ProgamFilesSteamSteamappsCommonswkotor. Go to a configuration file called swkotor.

Look under Graphics Options and there will be a line that says fullscreen=1. Change that to fullscreen=0, then also add a line under Graphics Options (the same section you just changed fullscreen in) that says AllowWindowedMode=1.

Hope this helps! If it still doesn't work, change your compatibility too.

Seems there has been an update since the making of this post. 16x9 ratios seem to work for me. Unsure about intro movies and etc.

Some changes below may no longer be required. Adding the line allowwindowedmode=1 like i say below may now longer be needed.

Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic Crashing Steam

Change 1 value and try to run the game before making all changes i list below.!!!!-EDIT-!!!!a lot of people (like myself) just bought this during the summer sale. I see a lot of people here with problems getting KOTOR 2 to work. I posted this in another thread and it has helped a few people so i figured id make a thread for it.Heres how i got my game to run:Go to your C: then Program Files (x86) then go to the file called Steam. Then inside the steam folder find Steam Apps, inside there click a folder called common. Now click the KOTOR 2 folder. Once inside the KOTOR folder scroll down and you will see a file called swkotor2 (its a Configuration setting file, not the Application file). Copy it, and save it somewhere else.(make a new folder on your desktop and paste it in there) this way if you mess up, you can always just copy this backup file.now go back to the swkotor2 file like i said before.

And open itNow you should see a text document. In the first section called Display Options there is a line that says Fullscreen=1 erase the 1 and put 0 instead.Down below is another section called Graphics Options there is another line that says Fullscreen=1. Change the 1 to a 0.

Also, in the Graphics options section type a line that says AllowWindowedMode=1Also, you may or may not have to change the line Disable Movies=1 to a 0 and Disable Intro Movies=1 to a 0then save the document. Then run the gameThe game is crashing on you because of screen ratios. It wont run at 16:9.

It has to be windowed. If this works and the game runs, at the title screen go to options, then graphics, then click the screen resolution button. Change it to 1024 x 768 and it will make the window a little larger. You can also use an old PC screen so KOTOR 2 will fit the screen.

But if you are on a 16:9 there is no way to get fullscreen without a widescreen mod (which reverts to a previous patch that is bugged) so its not really worth it.now get the TSLRCM mod. Tons of bug fixes and content. Originally posted by:I tried this, and it helped a little, but the cinematic after the title crawl crashes the game. I couldn't find an in-game option to disable movies, so I tried changing the 'Disable Movies' option in that file to 0 (it was 1 originally).

I admit that I'm about as useful as a kitten at these kinds of things. Any thoughts?I am having the same problem. Tslrcm is succesfully installed and my disable movies and disable intro movies are =0 but it still crashes right after the opening title crawl cinimatic. Can anyone help me? Did it work for you zinccadmium?
